Our mission is to revolutionize disability support by fostering environments where our Friends can thrive socially, emotionally, and functionally. With a dedicated team of experts, we blend compassion with evidence-based practices to empower individuals and support families.

What sets us apart is our commitment to doing programming differently. We design purposeful, skill-focused programs that equip our friends with real-world skills—whether it’s mastering daily routines, strengthening communication, or building confidence and independence. Our programs are not day cares. They don't keep our Friends busy for the sake of keeping them busy; they actively build brighter futures.

We don't leave Friends behind. We do not turn anyone away even if they have been turned away by other organizations or disability support programs. Everyone has a place at Diffabilities.

Unlike traditional care models, we focus on growth and achievement rather than simply filling time. Who We Serve
We proudly serve individuals with a wide range of developmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), Intellectual Disabilities, and other developmental or neurological differences.
Our programs are designed for individuals who seek more than just care—they seek growth, purpose, and connection. Each individual’s journey is unique, and we are committed to tailoring our services to meet their specific needs and aspirations. Through skill-building, meaningful interactions, and a nurturing environment, we help our friends achieve milestones they and their families never thought possible.

Our Story
Diffabilities began in 2023 with a visionary mission to transform disability support into something truly empowering and inclusive. Founded by Sarah Dewhurst, the organization set out to challenge traditional models of care, focusing on the strengths and potential of individuals with developmental disabilities rather than simply trying to meet their basic needs with blanket solutions. What started as an innovative idea quickly grew into a thriving community dedicated to celebrating the abilities of every person we support.

With locations in West Edmonton and Sherwood Park, Diffabilities provides a range of services for people with disabilities that focus on personal growth, skill development, and community integration. Over time, our organization has built strong community partnerships, expanding to offer work placements and activities that encourage independence and vocational growth. These partnerships not only create opportunities for learning and real-world experiences, but they also help foster a sense of belonging for the individuals we serve.

Families are at the heart of Diffabilities. Our Friends (as we call those we support) are encouraged to set and achieve their own goals, with input from their families along the way. This collaborative approach ensures that the unique needs and aspirations of each individual are met. Friends and families also help shape the programming at our centers, contributing valuable insights and ideas that make our services more effective.

At Diffabilities, we also celebrate the whole person. We believe that life is made up of milestones, and our community celebrates these moments, from birthday parties, t holidays, to personal accomplishments, together. Through this, we build meaningful connections and create lasting memories. Diffabilities is not just a service provider, but a supportive, inclusive community.
